FORGED FOR BATTLE
REBEL SPORT
Rebel Sport wanted to engage with cricket fans across Australia, and came to us with a plan to create a campaign to span cinema, TV, internet, digital signage, radio, POS, EDMs plus an entire “Cricket Edition” catalogue.
Partnering with Kookaburra, New Balance, Puma and Grey-Nicolls, the concept was to draw parallels between the armour worn by the modern day cricketer and the armour of knights going into battle. Player access was limited, so we set up our shoot across three studios. The first studio was a blue-screen setup, where we filmed the players in both cricket whites, and armour for the main video executions, from there, the players moved to studio 2, where we had a stills setup and from there, each player moved to studio 3, where they were interviewed for a series of social videos.
Steve Smith was overseas at the time, so we had to enlist a company in the states to film in a replicated environment. Additionally we filmed a blacksmith in the outer suburbs of Sydney, and the bat manufacturing process at Kookuburra in Victoria. For VFX and compositing we teamed up with The Refinery.
